Height Adjustable Workstations for Apex Valves

SlotPro has recently completed a project designing and building height adjustable workstations for Apex Valves, a well-known New Zealand manufacturer of high-performance valve systems based in Auckland. The project was part of a broader workspace upgrade, with a strong focus on ergonomics, operator comfort, and assembly efficiency.

Traditional fixed benches often limit flexibility on the production floor. They can create discomfort for operators, restrict workflow, and make it difficult to adapt as processes change. By contrast, height adjustable workstations give manufacturers more control over how their teams interact with their workspace. Operators can work at the right height for comfort and efficiency, while businesses benefit from improved safety and adaptability.

Designing for Ergonomics and Efficiency

Apex Valves wanted to replace older benches with workstations designed specifically for their assembly process. The priority was to improve ergonomics while also future-proofing the layout of their production floor. Instead of investing in off-the-shelf benches or fabricating frames internally, they chose to work with SlotPro to design a customised solution using modular aluminium profiles.

SlotPro manufactured each frame in-house, combining 40Γ—40 and 40Γ—80 aluminium extrusions with universal connectors, angle brackets, and articulated stainless steel feet. The articulated feet provide precise height adjustment, allowing operators to set their station at the level that works best for them. This flexibility reduces strain, improves comfort, and helps create a safer and more productive environment.

Built to Specification and Delivered Ready to Use

A key part of this project was making the installation process as smooth as possible. Every workstation frame was fully pre-assembled at SlotPro before delivery. Once on site, the units were ready for the addition of worktops and accessories, removing the need for any assembly during setup.

This "built to specification" approach meant Apex Valves received a turnkey solution that could be deployed rapidly. With no disruption to production and no extra time spent on internal fabrication, the new workstations were integrated into their facility quickly and efficiently.

Results on the Production Floor

The height adjustable workstations have now been integrated into the Apex Valves assembly area. Operators can adjust each station to the most comfortable working height, improving ergonomics and reducing strain from repetitive tasks. The clean, modular design has also enhanced the presentation of the workspace and streamlined assembly layouts.

Looking ahead, Apex Valves will benefit from the flexibility of the modular aluminium design. As production needs change, the stations can be modified, expanded, or reconfigured with minimal effort. This ensures the investment continues to deliver value well into the future.

Why Height Adjustable Workstations Matter

Projects like this highlight the growing importance of ergonomics and adaptability in modern manufacturing. Companies are recognising that the way people interact with their workstations has a direct impact on productivity, safety, and job satisfaction. Height adjustable workstations are no longer a luxury β€” they are a practical and cost-effective way to improve both operator wellbeing and business performance.

For Apex Valves, partnering with SlotPro made it possible to achieve this upgrade quickly and with minimal effort. For other manufacturers, the project demonstrates how modular aluminium profiles can be used to create customised, ergonomic solutions that are built to specification and delivered ready to work.
